Why Choose Seminole State College? |
||
| Seminole State College, established and maintained as a two-year
college by the State of Oklahoma, has the primary responsibility of providing
accessible and affordable postsecondary educational programs to residents
of Hughes, Lincoln, Okfuskee, Seminole and Pottawatomie counties. We exist
to enhance the capabilities of individuals to achieve their goals for personal
development by providing quality learning experiences and services that
respond to both individual and community needs.
Seminole State College receives over $8 million in income from state, federal and tuition sources. Using conservative figures, this has an economic impact of over $20 million dollars in the college's service area. The college also directly and indirectly creates almost 600 jobs in associated employee, student, visitor and capital spending. |
||
| What Do We Have to Offer? | ||
Students at Seminole State College can earn an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees. With the Associate of Arts and Science degrees, students can take electives in everything from Art to Pre-engineering and transfer to a four-year institution or enter the work force. With the Applied Science degree, students can concentrate their studies in accounting, computer science, medical laboratory technology, business administration, nursing and office management. In addition to offering classes on the SSC campus, the college offers courses in our service area.. With the outreach classes, students have the opportunity to take college credit courses in a location near them. SSC is also working with the Department of Human Services in an Employment Readiness Program. The program gives recipients of Temporary Aid for Needy Families the opportunity to take job readiness, resume writing and college classes to prepare for the workforce. |
||
| What's the Bottom Line? | ||
Each fall, more than 2000 students take advantage of the quality education being offered at an affordable price. In the workforce, an employee with an Associate's Degree has a greater chance of being employed and will go on to earn over $5,000 more than an employee with no college experience.
