POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President for Academic Affairs of Seminole State College serves as the Chief Academic Officer and is expected to: plan, develop and coordinate academic programs; foster the academic growth and development of faculty and students; plan and execute academic policies; and budget and administer academic programs and related activities. The Vice President will work with the administration on supervision of grants, accreditation studies and institutional planning.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represents Seminole State College in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the communities we serve. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers.
- Learns and uses operating practices of Seminole State College.
- Upholds the Mission Statement: Seminole State College empowers people for academic success, personal development and lifelong learning.
- Performs job duties utilizing SSC’s core values: Compassion, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence.
- Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Supervises all Academic Affairs personnel.
- Supervises the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of credit and non-credit instructional programs, including the development and revision of program curriculum.
- Prepares and organizes the College’s academic schedules of classes.
- Collaborates with the Division Chairs on policies, procedures and instructional budgets.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates community involvement.
- Professional involvement in state, regional and national organizations.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge: Minimum qualifications include: possession of a doctoral degree from a nationally-accredited institution - preferably in higher education administration or a related field - 5 years of experience in higher education, commitment to academic excellence, understanding and appreciation of the role and mission of a two-year college, working knowledge of the accreditation process and the State of Oklahoma System of Higher Education.
- Skills: Highly developed skills in written and oral communication, human relations, and creative problem solving. Preference will be given to applicants with: extensive teaching and administrative experience; extensive knowledge and experience in academic assessment requirements and methodologies. The successful applicant must be a team player with a positive outlook, and must possess strong people skills and an engaging sense of humor. Must be able to facilitate a learning culture that fosters innovation and creativity.
- Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work effectively, collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators and other key institutional stakeholders inside and outside of the academic affairs area and effectively supervise, manage and motivate staff.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits provided by the college include Oklahoma Teachers’ Retirement, group health and dental insurance, life insurance equivalent to contract salary, and long and short term disability. A tax-sheltered annuity wherein the college contributes 3.5% of any employee’s annual salary is available after one year of employment.
