9/28/09 Trojan Golf Updates
The Seminole State golf team traveled
to McPherson, KS for their first tournament of the year. The men
finished fourth out of 17, all of which were 4-year universities except
one. The men finished with team totals of 297, 297 for both days of the
tournament. “I was very pleased with the team in our first competitive
match of the year,” said Head Coach Nathan Jahn. Freshman Jed Williams
shot rounds of 72, 70 for a 2-over total....placing him 4th
out of 85 competitors. “I was impressed with the freshman’s mental game
in his first college tournament. I look for good things out of him this
season, as well as the rest of our freshmen. This is the most
competitive team we have had since I’ve been here. Any of the 9 players
have a chance to make the top-5.” Sophomore Nathan Harris finished tied
for 7th with rounds of 72, 73 for a 5-over total. Other
totals: Sophomore Mariano Newton,153 tied for 24th;
Sophomore Dan Difrancesco,154 tied for 33d; and Freshman Mason
Meadows,160 tied for 45th.
