Cargill ACT Prep Scheduled for GEAR UP Juniors
Jan. 25, 2016 – The Seminole State College GEAR UP Project has contracted ACT Test preparation workshops by Chad Cargill to be presented to Junior GEAR UP participants March 7 and 8.
A workshop for students from Butner, Davenport, Paden, Prague and Strother schools is set for 9 a.m. to noon Monday, March 7 at the Prague Middle School Auditorium.
GEAR UP Juniors from Asher, Bowlegs, Earlsboro, Holdenville, Konawa, Maud, Sasakwa, Seminole, Varnum and Wetumka are invited to participate in a three-hour workshop at the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts Center on the SSC campus from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 8.
Cargill is a nationally-recognized ACT Prep presenter and educator who has worked with students to help them improve their ACT scores for more than 20 years. He began his work on how to best prepare for the ACT as a high school student himself after initially scoring a 19 on his first attempt at the test.
Refusing to give up hope on scholarship help to Oklahoma State University, he took the test again to improve his score. He would eventually take the test a total of 18 times and reach a high score of 32.
The workshops are arranged for GEAR UP Juniors only, and students should meet with their high school counselor to sign up for their offered session.
