Former SSC Baseball Player Makes Major League Debut

Former Seminole State College Trojans baseball player Abraham Toro made his Major League Baseball debut for the Houston Astros on August 22.

Toro started as third baseman in the Astros game against the Detroit Tigers. The Astros brought Toro up from their Triple-A affiliate team the Round Rock Express, based on his batting average and his skill as both a first and third baseman. Toro held a .424 batting average in his first 16 Triple-A games. He played the bulk of the 2019 season for the Double-A Corpus Christi team, where he held a batting average of .393 with 16 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Toro played for SSC during the 2015-2016 season. He helped the team earn a win-loss record of 42-13. He was also named a 2016 All-Region Infielder and named 2016 First Team All American Infielder.
