SSC Professor to Receive National Award for Making a Difference in the Classroom

Seminole State College Associate Professor of Mathematics Dr. Linda Goeller will receive the Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award at the 2019 American Association of Community Colleges annual convention on April 14 in Orlando, Florida.

Recipients of the award must be nominated, demonstrate passion for classroom learning, show a willingness to support students both inside and outside of the classroom, be inclined to participate in college committees and go above and beyond what is required to ensure the academic success of their students.

“When I started teaching, I had a standard that I expected every student to meet without a lot of help. But when we started our new Student Success Initiative on campus, we increased flexibility and truly started empowering students on an individual level. Now, I think we work together to empower the students to meet those same standards.”

During this semester, Dr. Goeller has spent her time teaching Pre-Calculus for Business and Biology, Calculus for Business and Biology, and Differential Equations.

“While I’m certainly honored to receive this national recognition, I would feel just as proud to win an award that was reserved to SSC faculty. Our instructors on campus are just phenomenal.”
