SSC to Host Send-Off Event as Women’s Soccer Team Heads to National Tournament

The Seminole State College women’s soccer team will compete in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida, Nov. 18-23.

SSC Trojans soccer team celebrates their NJCAA Region II championship win on Nov. 2 at Selby Stadium in Enid. The team will compete in NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne, Florida, Nov. 18-23.

           SSC will host a send-off for the soccer team on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Union. The event will be open to students, employees and the public. Light refreshments will be served.

           After the Trojans captured the NJCAA Region 2 Championship, they competed in the Plains District Tournament. The team won their first game against Johnson County Community College with a final score of 3-0. In their second matchup of the tournament, they faced Hill College. After a hard-fought 90-minute battle of regulation play and two 10-minute overtime periods, the match was settled in six rounds of penalty kicks. The Trojans lost to Hill College 4-3.

           However, the Trojans were still able to advance to the national tournament due to their overall record of 19-0-3, regional win, impressive districts play and their rank as fourth in the nation. The team received an at-large bid to compete as the number 10 seed in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.

           In their first game of the national tournament, he Trojans will face Tyler College Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m. For their second match, they will face Snow College on Nov. 19 at 3:00 p.m.
