Commitment Announcement
Seminole State College volleyball coach Amy Gillespie
announces the signing of Angela Sanders to a letter of intent for the
2008-2009 season. Angela is from Katy, Texas and currently plays for the
Texas Tornados Volleyball Club based out of Houston.
Angela Sanders,
6’0 Outside/Rightside Katy, Texas Cinco Ranch High School
Angela played varisty for Cinco Ranch for two years
during her high school career. During her senior season, they made it into
the fourth round of play-offs in the Texas High School State Tournament,
further than the high school has ever made it before. Angela was selected as
the most improved player during her senior year. She was also a member of
the Cinco Ranch track team. Angela plans on majoring in Elementary
Education.
Comments from Coach Gillespie: “Angela is very athletic
and brings a lot of volleyball knowledge and playing experience with her to
our program. She’s a very strong player, making her a threat both on offense
and defense at the net. She’s a great competitor and works like crazy to get
better. I feel very, very fortunate to have her joining our program next
year.”

Seminole State Volleyball Coach Amy Gillespie announces
the signing of two more players to a letter of intent. Hannah Herrstrom of
Tonganoxie, Kansas, and Treci Holt of Mena, Arkansas will be joining the
Trojan volleyball team in the fall. Herrstrom is currently a member of
Ultimate Fitness Volleyball Club out of Kansas.
Hannah Herrstrom- 5’6”
Libero,Tonganoxie High School Tonganoxie, Kansas
KVA All-State, All-State Tournament Team, All-League,
2-time Top Defensive Player at the Tonganoxie Tournament. In 2007 Hannah
Herrstrom helped lead her team to a 3rd place finish in the 4A
Kansas High School State Tournament. She was a three year starter for the
Chieftains and was also a member of the softball and golf teams. Hannah
plans on majoring in Nursing while at Seminole State College.
Coach Gillespie’s Comments: “Hannah was a great
defensive player for Tonganoxie and helped them to yet another successful
season. She is a very vocal player on the court and does a tremendous job
leading her team defensively at the Libero position. She’s is a high energy
player and will be expected to come in and help lead our team on the court
right away.”
Treci Holt-5’7 RS/Setter, Mena
High School Mena, Arkansas.
Treci was a three year starter for Mena High School.
During her time, they were three time conference and district champions, and
were undefeated through conference play. During her junior and senior years,
she led Mena to the Arkansas High School State semi-finals. Holt was also a
member of the basketball and track teams. All-League 2 years. She is
undecided on her intended major.
Coach Gillespie’s Comments: “Treci is a raw athlete
with tons of natural talent. She has a lot of spunk and is the kind of
player that coaches love to have. She’ll do whatever is asked of her with a
smile on her face. She’s quick and scrappy and will be a great utility
player for us to use at any position.”

Seminole State College volleyball coach Amy Gillespie
has announced the signing of two players to national letters of intent.
Kelsey Erwin of Purcell, Missouri and Nikki Snider of Eudora, Kansas have
both signed to play volleyball for the Trojans in the Fall.
Kelsey is a member of the Ozark Juniors club team and
Nikki Snider is a member of Unlimited Fitness Volleyball Club. “I am
extremely excited to have these two players joining the Seminole State team
next season! Both are very solid, all-state caliber middles with tons of
experience in high level volleyball. They have the ability to step on the
court and make an immediate positive impact for our team. I’m looking
forward to the opportunity to coach these two super athletes.”
Kelsey Erwin,
6’0” Middle Purcell, Missouri, Webb City High School
All-Region 2 years; All-Conference 3 years; All-Area 3
years; All-District 2 years; Show Me Showdown, Carl Junction, Lebanon
VolleyBoo Classic, & Fayetteville All-Tournament Team . Kelsey was a four
year starter and letter winner. She played volleyball, basketball, softball,
and ran track at Webb City High School in Missouri. She plans on majoring in
Sports Entertainment and Marketing
Comments from Coach Gillespie: “Kelsey is a very
athletic middle....with her quickness, strength, and vertical she will be a
monster at the net for us. Not only does Kelsey dominate at the net, but she
is also stellar in the back row as well. She is a very competitive, intense
player with a strong work ethic and will push the team to perform at its
best each day by leading by example.”

Nikki Snider,
5’10” Middle Eudora, Kansas Eudora High School
KVA All-State Recognition 3 years; KVA All-State
Tournament Team; 1st team All-Area 2 years; Tonganoxie
All-Tournament Team; Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Nikki was a
four year starter for Eudora High School. In 2006 she help lead her team to
a 4A state championship. During her time at Eudora she played volleyball and
basketball, and earned a plethora of honors in both sports. Nikki plans on
majoring in Nursing.
Comments from Coach Gillespie: “Nikki is a solid
player all the way around and especially at the net. She is very versatile
in the middle and has the ability to run a variety of different routes. She
has a lot of playing experience at high calibers of volleyball which will
benefit our young team. Nikki brings a positive, outgoing attitude to the
court.”
Seminole State College 2008 Commitments
Seminole State College volleyball coach Amy Gillespie has announced the signing
of two players to national letters of intent. Kristen White of Glenpool, and
Amy Harris of Bixby, are both natives of Oklahoma.
Both players were members
of the Oklahoma All-State team and have several honors under their belts.
Both players are members of the Tulsa based Club O.N.E. volleyball team
as well. “I am very excited to be able to coaches these two athletes. They
both come here with great attitudes and leadership capabilities. They are
the kind of players that coaches dream to have play for them. I look forward
to next season with these two gamers on the court for us!”

Kristen White, 5’2” Libero
Glenpool, Oklahoma
All-State, All-Tournament Team at McAlester, Glenpool, & Catoosa, 2 year
team MVP
Kristen lead her team all the way to the Oklahoma 4A state tournament in
2007. She plays volleyball and is a cheerleader for the basketball team at
Glenpool High School. Kristen plans on majoring in Sports Therapy.

“Kristen is an outstanding Libero and will throw her body on the floor
for everything and anything. She is the epitome of a team player. Kristen is
very outgoing and positive. She is a natural leader and has no problem carrying
the team on her back. She has great ball control and reads well.....I
believe she will be at the top of the conference in digs for us next year.”

Amy Harris, 5’11” Outside
Bixby, Oklahoma
All-State, All-Tournament Team at McAlester, Catoosa, & State, 1st Team
All-Conference as a Junior & Senior
Amy lead her team to a semi-final appearance at the Oklahoma 4A state tournament
in 2007. She plays both volleyball and basketball for Bixby High School. Amy
plans on majoring in Business Management/Finance.
Comments from Coach Gillespie:
“Amy is a very powerful outsider hitter....she literally pounds the ball.
She puts up a strong block, reads well when she is playing defense, and is
a solid player all the way around. Amy is very outgoing and positive, and brings
great energy to the court. She will have no problem making adjustments and
stepping up to the collegiate level of play and will be a big impact player
for us next year.”
