Colleagues, family and friends of the honorees are invited to attend.<!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>SSC\u2019s Policy on\nEmeritus status states that the Seminole State College Board of Regents, at its\ndiscretion, may honor recommendations of the President granting retired\nfaculty, administrators or professional staff members emeritus status after\nretirement.&nbsp; In evaluating candidates for\nthis honorary status, consideration may be given to length of service, special\nrecognitions and activities, and similar items related to performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The five retirees being\nconsidered for their long-time dedication and contributions to the institution\nare: Annette Troglin Barnes (1998-2015), Dan Factor (1995-2015), Dawna Hamm (1991-2015),\nGerhard Laule (1988-2013) and Beverly Williams (1991-2011).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Annette-Barnes-e1550679134918-955x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Annette Troglin Barnes \" class=\"wp-image-1087\" width=\"333\" height=\"353\"\/><figcaption><strong><em>Annette Troglin Barnes <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Barnes served in education\nfor almost 30 years \u2013 17 of those years at SSC. She began as an adjunct\npart-time instructor, teaching classes at night following her full-time job as\na math teacher in secondary education. After seven years of serving in a\npart-time role, she took on the full-time position of math instructor. From\n2011 to her retirement in 2015, she served as the Math, Science and Engineering\nDivision Chair. Following retirement, she has continued to adjunct for the\nCollege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her full-time role at\nSSC, Barnes taught a myriad of courses, including Basic Math, Elementary and Intermediate\nAlgebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry and Statistics. She also played an\nintegral role in an overhaul to the math curriculum, which included linking\ndevelopmental courses with accredited courses to help students succeed. He spent 17 of those years as the Coordinator\nof Police at Seminole State College. During his time at the College, he focused\non courtesy services, emergency response, criminal investigations, traffic\ncontrol and maintaining a safe and peaceful campus. He also devoted a great\ndeal of time and effort to compliance with record keeping and statistical\nreporting for state and national guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Factor began his career in\nlaw enforcement at the Wewoka Police Department in 1977. He has worked for the\nSeminole County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Light Horse Police and the State\nDepartment of Corrections \u2014 where he ran a dog team at Boley \u2014 all before finding his way\nto SSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Dawna-Hamm-1.jpg\" alt=\"Dawna Hamm \" class=\"wp-image-1090\" width=\"240\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Dawna-Hamm-1-215x300.jpg 215w, https:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Dawna-Hamm-1-36x50.jpg 36w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><figcaption><strong><em>Dawna Hamm <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamm served\nthe College for 27 years. She began in 1988 as an adjunct and took a full-time\nposition in 1991. When she retired in 2015, she held the position of Business\nand Information Systems Division Chair. As Division Chair, she was responsible\nfor scheduling, budgeting and assessment reports. She also continued to teach\n15-18 hours each semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamm attended\nwhat was then Seminole Junior College and went on to earn her bachelor\u2019s degree\nin accounting at the University of Oklahoma. She completed her MBA at Oklahoma\nCity University. For four years, he served as the Math, Science\nand Engineering Division Chair. He also served a term as President of the\nFaculty Senate. He primarily taught Intro to Chemistry, Chemistry I and\nChemistry II. Early in his career at SSC, he wrote a grant proposal to the\nNational Science Foundation for the purchase of computers for campus. The grant\nwas awarded, increasing student access to the technology. He also created a\nwebsite and online assignments for his class years before the College adapted a\ncampus-wide online learning portal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laule\nreceived his bachelor\u2019s degree at Central Arkansas University and his master\u2019s\ndegree at the University of Arkansas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\ncurrently spends his time working in trail maintenance and construction in both\nOklahoma and Arkansas. She also served many\nyears as the Vice Chair of the Math, Science and Engineering Division. She\nhelped the College redesign its science curriculum. She also spearheaded the\nBridge to Bachelor\u2019s program that assisted SSC students with completing their\nfour-year degree in partnership with East Central University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams\nreceived both her bachelor\u2019s degree and master\u2019s degree from ECU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following\nher retirement from SSC, Williams worked as a tutor in the College\u2019s STEM lab.\nShe currently enjoys honing her skill as a painter.
