Two Seminole State College\nemployees were recognized for their hard work and dedication during the monthly\nSeminole Chamber of Commerce Forum on April 11. Assistant Professor\nof Criminal Justice Sam Rivera was honored as \u201cFaculty Member of the\nMonth\u201d and Director of Student Support Services and STEM Student Support\nServices Janna Manlapig was honored as \u201cProfessional Staff Member of the\nMonth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seminole Chamber of\nCommerce Education Committee, along with the Lions Club and Blue Ribbon Realty,\nrecognize SSC employees several times during Forum each year. Individuals are\nnominated from across the campus and chosen by SSC administrators to receive\nthe honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivera completed his\nbachelor\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice Management at Union Institute and University.\nHe received his master\u2019s degree in Criminal Justice at the University of\nOklahoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While living in California, Rivera\nserved the Sacramento Sheriff\u2019s Department for 23 years before retiring.\nFollowing his time in Sacramento, Rivera took on the role of SSC Chief of\nPolice from 2015 to 2017. Since that time, Rivera has held the position of\nAssistant Professor of Criminal Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is involved with a number\nof campus organizations and committees. He is a member of the Assessment\nLearning Committee, the Chair of the Professional Development Committee and an\nadvisor for the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivera and his wife\nStephanie reside in Wewoka. They have four adult children: Samantha Kale of\nForesthill, California; Andrew Rivera of Auburn, California; Ryan Rivera of\nKilleen, Texas; and Reagan Rivera of Shawnee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janna Manlapig<\/em><\/strong>

Manlapig received her\nbachelor\u2019s degree in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University and her master\u2019s\ndegree in Adult and Higher Education Administration from the University of\nOklahoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her role as Director of\nStudent Support Services and STEM Student Support Services she administrates\ngrants and plays a key role in helping students with their academic pursuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is involved with the\nStudent Success Council and Professional Staff Council. She also sits on\nadvisory boards for nursing and MLT. She is an active member of the Emmanuel\nEpiscopal Church in Shawnee, where she participates on the meal service team,\nplays in the hand bell choir and plays percussion for the youth service on Wednesday\nevenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She and her fianc\u00e9e Holly\nreside in Shawnee. Manlapig has two children, Mitchell and Kamryn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
