The Seminole State College Board of Regents convened Aug. 15 for their monthly meeting. The Board held an election of officers, approved a revision to a non-discrimination policy and reviewed and approved institutional documents related to the College\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n

           At the beginning of the meeting,\nMarci Donaho was recognized for serving as Chair for the 2018-2019 school year.\nShe was reappointed to the Board for another seven-year term on April 1 by\nGovernor Kevin Stitt and confirmed by the Senate Education Committee on April\n30. With her new term beginning this month, she was sworn in by Seminole\nattorney Brad Carter at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

           Then the Board reviewed expenditures\nfor the months of June and July. Then SSC President Lana Reynolds presented her\nPresident\u2019s Report, which included a personnel update, enrollment report and information\nabout campus activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

           Three action items were approved by\nthe Board. First, the Board held its election of officers. The Board approved\nthe selection of Regent Curtis Morgan as Chair, Ryan Franklin as Vice Chair and\nRay McQuiston as Secretary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

           Second on the action agenda, the\nBoard approved a revision to a campus non-discrimination policy. In compliance\nwith federal civil rights law, the Board updated its non-discrimination policy\nby removing a section titled \u201cEqual Employment Opportunity\/Affirmative Action\u201d\nand replacing it with a new section entitled \u201cNon-Discrimination Policy.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

           Lastly, the Board reviewed institutional\ndocuments related to the College\u2019s mission. For Higher Learning Commission accreditation\npurposes, the Board reaffirmed SSC\u2019s Mission Statement, CORE Values and\nFunction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

           The College\u2019s Mission Statement\nreads, \u201cSeminole State College empowers people for academic success, personal\ndevelopment and lifelong learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

           The College\u2019s CORE Values are: \u201cCOMPASSION:\ncelebrating a diverse campus, local and global community of people and\ndisplaying professionalism and compassion in all interactions; OPPORTUNITY:\npresenting current trends and future possibilities for career, academic and\npersonal enrichment; RESPECT: building mutual respect, integrity, and\nconfidence for ourselves, for others and for the environment; EXCELLENCE:\ncontinually striving to achieve the highest standards and exhibit excellence in\nour programs and relationships with all stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

           The Board approved these items with\nno change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

           Board members present at the meeting were:\nBryan Cain, Marci Donaho, Ray McQuiston, Curtis Morgan and Kim Hyden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
