Twenty-eight Seminole State College students were inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges at the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts Center on Oct. 3.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n

A group of 28 Seminole State College students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts Center on Oct. 3.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Students are selected based on their scholarship, leadership\nand commitment to community. The chapter provides programs, organizes activities\nand encourages participation in community service projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Requirements for membership in the honor society\ninclude: enrollment at an accredited two-year college with a Phi Theta Kappa\nchapter and an overall GPA of 3.5 with a minimum of 12 credit hours completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SSC Regent Marci Donaho served as the event\u2019s guest\nspeaker. Regent Donaho was appointed to the college in 2005 by Governor Brad\nHenry. She was reappointed in 2012 by Governor Mary Fallin and again in 2019 by\nGovernor Kevin Stitt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Donaho was a long-time public school educator\nwho, for the past 22 years, has served as Executive Director of the Jasmine\nMoran Children\u2019s Museum. She is a member and past president of the Seminole\nChamber of Commerce. In 2002, she was named Seminole\u2019s \u201cCitizen of the Year.\u201d\nDonaho serves on the Seminole School Board and was inducted into the Seminole\nHall of Fame in 2015. She has been nominated three times as one of 50 \u201cWomen\nMaking a Difference\u201d in the State of Oklahoma, as recognized by the Journal\nRecord newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assistant Professor of Business Jeff Cheng and Assistant\nProfessor of Social Sciences Sam Rivera, who serve as the chapter\u2019s current advisers,\nwere also present at the induction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
