The\nSeminole State College Educational Foundation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on\ncampus for the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex on Nov. 7 at the\nUtterback Ballroom located within the Enoch Kelly Haney Center. More than 250\npeople were in attendance at the event. <\/p>\n\n\n

The first phase of the complex will include a Trojan baseball stadium and field, training facility, lighting, artificial turf, area landscaping, site dirt preparation, restrooms, snack bar, press box, parking, and a youth multi-use field that can be used for baseball, softball or soccer. <\/p>\n\n\n

A group of dignitaries\u2014comprised of community, legislative, and collegiate representatives\u2014began the groundbreaking ceremony with a turning of the dirt. They are (pictured left to right): SSC Athletic Booster Club President Dillon Robinson, Seminole Chamber of Commerce President Darren Frederick, Seminole City Manager Steve Saxon,, SSC Professional Staff Association President Caitlin Brown, SSC Faculty Senate President Jeff Cheng, Trojan Baseball Coach Mack Chambers, SSC Classified Staff Association President Dana Denwalt, SSC President Emeritus Dr. Jim Utterback, Brian Crawford Memorial Foundation Founder Kenneth Crawford, SSC President Lana Reynolds, SSC Educational Foundation Chair Lance Wortham, Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Senior Vice President Chuck Brady, Fields, Inc. CEO Brian Storm, Former SSC Regent and SSC Founders Award Recipient Melvin Moran, Seminole Mayor Jeff Griffin, Rep. Zack Taylor of Seminole, Rep. Danny Sterling of Tecumseh and Student Government Association President Tijah Johnson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
