Sessions will take place in room 104 of the Boren Library from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"291\" height=\"347\" data-id=\"3524\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Redeagle-1.jpg\" alt=\"Braxton Redeagle will lead an Osage language workshop from March 29 to April 19 at Seminole State College.\" class=\"wp-image-3524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Redeagle-1.jpg 291w, https:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Redeagle-1-252x300.jpg 252w, https:\/\/www.sscok.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Redeagle-1-42x50.jpg 42w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Braxton Redeagle, the Director of the Osage Nation language department, will lead the workshop. He previously taught Osage I and Osage II for a world language credit in Skiatook and Hominy High Schools as a certified teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He grew up in Pawhuska and is a member of the Waxakolin committee for the Inlonshka dances. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he was an active member of the Society of Native American Gentlemen and various other organizations that promote academics, health, culture and fellowship for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe history, culture, and worldview captured by the language are unique in many respects, which leads to unique stories, expressions and terminology,\u201d Redeagle said. \u201cHowever, the language follows common linguistic principles and has features seen in languages all over the world, including multiple cognate languages that are mutually intelligible to various degrees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop is made possible through a partnership between SSC\u2019s Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions (NASNTI) Program, SSC\u2019s Business and Industry department and the Osage Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To sign up for the workshop, visit sscok.edu and select Community and On-Demand Courses from the Academics tab.
