Seminole State College hosted former Belles basketball player and Women\u2019s National Basketball Association (WNBA) star on campus last week to visit with students and staff about her new book, \u201cUnstoppable\u201d \u2013 <\/em>a memoir aimed to encourage others to pursue their dreams, even in the face of opposition. \u00a0Edwards took time to autograph copies of her book and take photos with those in attendance. Seminole State College President Lana Reynolds hosted a breakfast for friends of former SSC women\u2019s basketball All-American and WNBA champion Simone Edwards during her visit to campus last week.\u00a0 Edwards, the author of a new book, \u201cUnstoppable,\u201d about her rise from childhood poverty in Jamaica to international basketball stardom, spoke to various campus and community groups while in Seminole.\u00a0 Pictured left to right are:\u00a0 Reynolds, Mark Schell, Rita Story-Schell, Dr. Brad Walck, Edwards, Bonnie Ritchie, Herman Ritchie, Hope Pickering, Dave Anderson, Sue Snodgrass and Dr. Thurman Edwards.<\/p>\n

Former Belles basketball player and Women\u2019s National Basketball Association (WNBA) star Simon Edwards visited Northwood Elementary School in Seminole last Friday where she spoke to the fifth and sixth grade classes during a special presentation. Edwards talked with students about the negative effects of bullying and the importance of loving themselves for who they are. Each class was able to take a group photo with Edwards \u2013 also known as the \u201cJamaican Hurricane.\u201d Pictured is Edwards with Mr. Sigman\u2019s fifth grade class.<\/p>\n
