Seminole State College will host an in-person meet and greet event and two virtual information sessions for students interested in enrolling in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. The in-person event will take place on Feb. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center campus in Shawnee, while the virtual sessions will be held on Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 from 12 to 1 p.m. Prospective students may register for the virtual session in advance by visiting sscok.edu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meet and greet, prospective students will have the opportunity to connect with faculty and program graduates, explore the field of physical therapy, learn about job opportunities, and receive in-depth information about the program\u2019s curriculum and financial aid options. The virtual session will provide an accessible way for students to learn about the program from the comfort of their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a great opportunity for anyone considering a career as a physical therapist assistant,\u201d SSC PTA Director Shakira Stafford said. \u201cWhether you\u2019re making a career change or<\/p>\n\n\n\n

just starting your educational journey, these sessions will provide the guidance you need to make an informed decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the past two years, graduates of the SSC PTA program have achieved a 100 percent licensure pass rate and a 100 percent job placement rate. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a physical therapist assistant in Oklahoma is $55,461.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PTA program follows a structured sequence, with students completing prerequisite coursework before admission into the technical portion, which includes physical therapy coursework and on-site clinical education. The technical portion can be completed in 11 months. Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to take the licensure examination to become a physical therapist assistant.
