Seminole State College and Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative were recognized earlier this spring with the Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award recognizes partnerships between higher education institutions and businesses that connect education with workforce needs. Sixteen partnerships across the state received the honor this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPartnerships between local businesses and our public colleges and universities strengthen our workforce, benefiting both our state and individual students,\u201d Chancellor Sean Burrage said. \u201cThe State Regents are proud to recognize these collaborative efforts that drive economic growth, foster innovation and expand career opportunities for Oklahomans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SSC and CVEC have worked together on several initiatives related to campus safety, student development and community engagement. CVEC donated and installed an electrical pole that expanded the reach of SSC\u2019s emergency siren system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The cooperative also supports student and institutional programs through employee involvement. Carla Tollett, CVEC Director of Communications and Member Engagement, serves on the SSC Educational Foundation Board of Trustees and assists with fundraising efforts. Tollett also promotes CVEC\u2019s Digital Marketing Internship to qualified SSC students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CVEC Human Resources Manager Kendi Cox has participated in SSC\u2019s B.L.A.S.T. program, Business Leadership Academy Skills Training, and Mock Interview Workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SSC presented representatives from CVEC with a plaque commemorating the partnership during a luncheon at the college on June 8.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
