Twenty-eight Seminole State College students were inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges at the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts Center on Oct. 11.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

A group of 28 Seminole State College students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts Center on Oct. 11<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Students are selected based on their scholarship, leadership and commitment to community. The chapter provides programs, organizes activities and encourages participation in community service projects. 
Requirements for membership in the honor society include: enrollment at an accredited two-year college with a Phi Theta Kappa chapter and an overall GPA of 3.5 with a minimum of 12 credit hours completed. 
SSC Regent Paige Sherry served as the event\u2019s guest speaker. Regent Sherry was appointed to the college in 2017 by Governor Mary Fallin. She previously served as chair of the SSC Educational Foundation. She currently helps operate her family’s business, Patterson Oil Company, and serves as the mayor of Wewoka. 
Assistant Professor of Business Jeff Cheng and Social Science Instructor Sam Rivera, who serve as the chapter\u2019s current advisers, were also present at the induction.
