Two Seminole State College employees were recognized for their dedication and service during the Seminole Chamber of Commerce Forum on Dec. 11. Assistant Professor of Life Science Leigh Ann Wilson was honored as Faculty Member of the Month, and Recruitment Specialist Maddy Potter was named Staff Member of the Month.
The Seminole Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, along with the Lions Club and Kontoor Brands/Wrangler, recognizes SSC employees several times during Forum each year. Honorees are nominated from across campus and selected by College administrators.

Wilson has worked at SSC for two and a half years. She teaches Principles of Biology, General Zoology and Applied Anatomy, and currently serves on the Faculty Welfare Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Science in Ecology from Rutgers University. Outside the classroom, she is active in Pathway Methodist Church, supports Pathfinders Youth, volunteers with the Byng basketball booster club and participates in the Sierra Club Oklahoma Chapter. Her previous honors include
being named University of Arkansas–Pulaski Technical College Science Faculty of the Month and receiving an ETS Recognition of Excellence distinction for her Praxis exam performance. She and her husband of 25 years, Steve, reside in Ada. They have three children: Noah, 19; Luke, 17; and Caroline, 14.
Potter has served as SSC’s Recruitment Specialist for two and a half years. In her role, she organizes major campus recruitment events such as High School Visit Day, attends college fairs, speaks to groups of high school students at their schools, manages campus recruitment communications, conducts individual and group campus tours, and assists the enrollment management team with campaigns and events. She earned an Associate of Science in Psychology from Seminole State College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from East Central University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education in School and Professional Counseling at the University of Central Oklahoma. Potter recently joined SSC’s Student Success Committee and resides in Shawnee with her husband, Brayden.
