Representatives from Gateway to Prevention and Recovery, the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust and Seminole State College showcase the college’s “Breathe Easy” banner, following a Seminole Chamber of Commerce forum and luncheon Sept. 13 at SSC. TSET Executive Director John Woods gave the keynote address during the luncheon. SSC was recognized as a Certified Healthy Oklahoma campus and received the banner for its changes in tobacco policy in the spring of 2018. Continue reading “SSC Receives Breathe Easy Recognition”
The Seminole State College Native Americans Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI) program, in collaboration with The Chickasaw Nation, recently hosted Archery Tag on the College campus. Chickasaw Academy Manager Ric Greenwood and his team discussed the history of the Chickasaw Warrior and introduced participating students to the Chickasaw language. The students then participated in archery tag – a game that promotes teamwork, agility and concentration. Continue reading “Archery Tag at SSC”
Seminole State College Student Government Association Officers attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s “Challenging the Future” leadership retreat on Sept. 28.
Anette Hammer, Head of Education and Business (right) and Peter Nymann Eriksen, Student Counselor and International Coordinator (left) from College360° in Silkeborg, Denmark visit with Seminole State College President Lana Reynolds about renewing a cultural and educational exchange program between the two schools. Hammer and Eriksen were in Seminole this week to work out plans to bring 20 students and two instructors from Denmark to SSC in late October as part of the program. Seminole State College has chosen 24 students for Class XII of the SSC Presidential Leadership program. PLC is a two-year scholarship program created to help students develop leadership skills and provide personal and professional growth opportunities. The Seminole State College Professional Staff Council (PSC) organized their second annual “Move-In Event” for all students living in the campus residence halls this year. Members gathered to fill welcome bags with a variety of school supplies and snacks and also created and hung welcome signs in each room. They received donations from individual employees and organizations on campus to make up these welcome sacks for residential students. PSC members also gathered during freshman move-in day to greet parents and students and help them carry their belongings to their rooms.
