SSC Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-American Honors

Forty student-athletes and six athletic teams at Seminole State College have been recognized for their outstanding academic achievements this year by the National Junior College Athletic Association. The NJCAA All-American Student Athlete Awards are divided into the three groups based on grade point average – First Team requires a 4.0 GPA, Second Team requires a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99, and Third Team requires a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.

SSC Women’s Soccer Coach Named Coach of the Year

Seminole State College Trojan Soccer Head Coach Daniel Hill was recently named the 2021 NJCAA Region II Coach of the Year. Hill has led his team to a win-loss record of 13-1 this season. Pre-season predictions placed the Trojans at seventh in the Nation. The team finished the regular season as conference champions and Region II Tournament champions.

SSC Graduate Selected for Climate Research Internship

Seminole State College graduate Asa Samuels will begin his internship through the Haskell Environmental Research Studies (HERS) program at the University of Kansas on June 6. The HERS program prepares tribal college students for graduate school and helps students meet the challenges of climate and environmental change. The paid internship spans eight weeks in Lawrence, Kansas. Students spend six weeks in the classroom learning about climate change and developing individual research projects. For the final two weeks, interns conduct independent research at the University of Kansas, Haskell Indian Nations University or in the field. During the academic year, HERS interns will have several opportunities to present their research at professional meetings, workshops and symposia across the country.
