Rural Business and Resource Center

Rural Business and Resource Center

Seminole State College’s Educational Foundation has received sponsorships to form the Rural Business and Resources Center.

This organization aims to aid economic development in Seminole State College’s five county service area, which includes Hughes, Lincoln, Okfuskee, Pottawatomie, and Seminole counties. By offering free individual counseling and training opportunities, the Rural Business and Resources Center works to assist individuals and communities in exploring the opportunities of starting or expanding and improving an existing business.

What we can do

When potential or current entrepreneurs come to the Rural Business and Resources Center for assistance, their needs are assessed and then, working together, a strategic plan of action is put into place.

A client may be looking for help putting together a business plan, finding funding, or simply receiving training and encouragement.

Besides counseling, the Rural Business and Resources Center also offers free training sessions throughout the college’s service area on issues ranging from Finance to Marketing to Implementing the Internet into Your Business.

Through free training and assistance, the RBRC can help both the beginner and the advanced:

  • Research the market for your proposed business
  • Develop a business plan and a marketing plan
  • Avoid the common pitfalls of starting a business
  • Learn how to access capital
  • Tap resources and network with other entrepreneurs
  • Set up record-keeping systems
  • Learn the fundamentals of financial statements
  • Learn about small business tax incentives
  • Improve business and time management skills
  • Receive training in human resource matters
  • Plan for the future and control business growth
  • Provides grants to businesses for equipment purchases and employee training

Arrangements for persons with disabilities will be made for RBRC events, if requested.
