Seminole State College Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program Director and Assistant Professor Kelly Hankal was recently honored with the Outstanding Instructor award at the 2022 Making It Work Day Awards held by the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education Equity Council. Hankal received the award for her impact with non-traditional students.

SSC to Host Event for Working Adults Looking to Finish Their Degrees
Seminole State College will host a Reach Higher: Reconnect event to help working adults learn more about completing their degrees on March 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boren Library on campus. The theme of the event is “Your Road to 60.” Working adults with some college credit will have access to several resources to help them reach the 60 credit hours needed for an associate’s degree. Hot dogs, popcorn and bottled water will be available for free for attendees. Games will be held outside with a number of prizes to be given away.

Seminole State college will host on campus and community enrollment events for new students throughout the month of April. Social Sciences Division Hosts Presidents’ Day Presentation

Professor of Government Jeffrey Christiansen gave a presentation in honor of Presidents’ Day on Feb. 18 in the Utterback Ballroom.
The title of the presentation was “Theodore Roosevelt: The First Modern President.”
Professor Christiansen discussed Roosevelt’s childhood, personal life, as well as his military and political careers.
The event was sponsored by the Social Sciences Division.
Walkingsticks Honored at Chandler Chamber of Commerce Banquet
Former Seminole State College Regent, Foundation Trustee and long-time supporter Ben Walkingstick and his wife Bonnie were recently recognized at the Chandler Chamber of Commerce banquet by the Oklahoma National Guard with the Thunderbird Medal, honoring their “lifetime of exceptional service.” The Walkingsticks’ efforts to save the community’s local Armory and preserve it as the Route 66 Interpretive Center, as well as their financial support and political influence were credited as improving the City of Chandler and the State of Oklahoma. Lt. Col. Jack Vaughan, battalion commander for the 1-160th, said the Walkingsticks represent the National Guard motto “Always Ready, Always There.” Bonnie Walkingstick, a local business owner and civic worker, was also honored at the banquet as Chandler’s “Citizen of the Year.”
The Walkingsticks were recognized at Seminole State College with the prestigious “Founders Award” in 2011 for their support of the college. The Walkingstick Student Service Center is named in their honor and annual scholarships are provided to area citizens through their generosity.
SSC Releases 90-Year Retrospective
