Scholarship for Adults Looking to Finish Their Degrees Available at SSC

Through a partnership between the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Reach Higher program and Seminole State College, a scholarship is now available for adults who previously earned college credit and would like to return to complete their degree.

The Reach Higher Finish Line Scholarship was established to contribute to the economic development goals of the state of Oklahoma through providing in-demand degree options for working adults.

“This scholarship is unique because it is catered specifically to people who have had to put off their education for any number of reasons,” SSC Online Degree Office Coordinator Laura Votaw said. “This scholarship coupled with the number of ways we’ve increased the flexibility of our course offerings over the last few years make it easier than ever to earn a degree while working or raising a family.”

Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), enroll in at least six credit hours, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, and be within 30 credit hours of completing degree requirements for graduation.

Recipients of the scholarship receive a minimum of a $500 scholarship award per semester for up to five semesters. The scholarship amount is determined by the institution upon review of applications and available funding. Students may be awarded multiple scholarship awards as they make satisfactory academic progress towards degree completion. Scholarship awards may not exceed a total of $5,000 within five semesters per recipient.

The application is available at https://reachhigherok.org/finishlineok. Once the application has been completed, it can be submitted by email to SSC Online Degree Office Coordinator Laura Votaw at l.votaw@sscok.edu. The deadline for submission is Feb. 28.

The Reach Higher program was created to help non-traditional students earn degrees in critical occupation industries. For more information on Reach Higher, visit reachhigherok.org/about-reachhigher.
