SSC Rallies for Women’s Soccer Team Before National Tournament

Seminole State College hosted a send-off on Nov. 14 for the women’s soccer team ahead of their appearance at the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer National Tournament in the E.T. Dunlap Student Union. Women’s Soccer Head Coach Dan Hill thanks the students, faculty, staff and community supporters in attendance at the event. SSC President Lana Reyolds, Board of Regents Chair Marci Donaho, SSC Educational Foundation Chair Mark Schell and Student Government Association President Adisen Williamson also spoke at the event, wishing the team well on their competition.

The SSC women’s soccer team poses for a group photo prior to their departure. This year’s national tournament will take place from Nov. 16-22 at the Advance Soccer Complex in Enid. The team ended the season with a win-loss record of 15-1-2 and as the league leaders in scoring with 93 goals. They will enter the national tournament as the No. 2 seed. This year marks the seventh consecutive national tournament appearance for the women’s soccer team.

As the women’s soccer team departed campus, the bus busted through a banner with notes of encouragement from the campus community, as a crowd of supporters cheered. The national tournament will begin with pool play, a round-robin format where teams are divided into groups and compete. SSC will face Laramie County Community College at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, followed by a matchup against Navarro College at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The top team in the pool will advance to the next stage of the tournament. Tournament updates can be found at sscok.edu.
