SSC Named Certified Healthy Campus

Seminole State College recently received a 2018 Award of Excellence from Certified Healthy Oklahoma. The College was recognized as a Certified Healthy Campus at CHO’s annual awards event, hosted in partnership with The Journal Record. The Certified Healthy Oklahoma program showcases businesses, campuses, communities, congregations, early childhood programs, restaurants, and schools that are committed to supporting healthy choices through environmental and policy change. These entities work to improve the health of Oklahomans by implementing elements, policies, and programs that will help Oklahomans to eat better, move more, and be tobacco free. Seminole State College Student Government Association members attended the Oklahoma Student Government Spring Congress this weekend at the State Capitol. Students completed workshops and visited committee meetings where new resolutions were developed in order to be introduced as new legislation.
SSC Creative Symposium Receives Donation
The Seminole State College Language Arts and Humanities Division recently received a donation of $500 to aid in the continuation of its annual Howlers and Yawpers Creativity Symposium. President Reynolds Reads to Local Students

Seminole State College President Lana Reynolds was one of several community guest readers to visit Wilson Elementary School last week. President Reynolds stopped by Mrs. Sonia Scott’s third grade class to read “If I Ran the Zoo” by Dr. Seuss as part of the national birthday celebration of the children’s book author.
SSC Emeritus Status Honorees to be Recognized
Five former Seminole State College employees will be recommended for Emeritus status Feb. 21 to the College’s Board of Regents. A special afternoon reception will be held for those who are awarded the status of Emeritus by the Board at 2:30 p.m. in the Dan and Andrea Boren Center on campus. Seminole to Host Major Basketball Tournament
In a joint effort, Seminole State College, the Brian Crawford Memorial, the City of Seminole and the Seminole Tourism Council will host the Seminole Hoops Classic Saturday, Dec. 22, and Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Reynolds Wellness Center.
