Former NASA Commander Delivers Speech at Seminole State College

Former NASA Commander Dr. John Herrington spoke to students, faculty, staff and community members at an event hosted by Seminole State College’s Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions program on campus Aug. 15.

Dr. Herrington took to the stage in the Jeff Johnston auditorium to share his story about dropping out of college, finding his purpose, returning to his studies and chasing his dream of space travel. A member of the Choctaw tribe, he became the first enrolled member of a Native American tribe to fly in space in 2002.

SSC Hosts Summer Kids Camps

Seminole State College is currently hosting Kids on Campus, a variety of children and youth camps scheduled throughout the summer. The Picasso Painting Camp builds creativity and self-esteem as each student sees his/her artwork through to a finished piece.

SSC to Host Region II Softball Tournament

Seminole State College will host the NJCAA Region II Softball Tournament May 9-12 at the College’s softball complex. Eight teams from across the state will compete in the tournament. Seminole State College, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, Carl Albert State College, Rose State College, Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Western Oklahoma State College have secured their spots, while Connors State College and Northern Oklahoma College-Enid vie for the eighth seed. SSC’s Documentary Screening Draws Large Crowd

Seminole State College and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society hosted a free screening of the documentary series Killing Pain on April 18. The event drew more than 140 campus and community guests.
