PLC Visit Food Bank 2018

Members of Seminole State College’s President’s Leadership Class volunteered at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City on Nov. 1. The students prepared packages of food that will be distributed to participating schools around the state. The bags contained approximately 10 different foods designed to provide nutrition and calories for chronically hungry children over the weekend. The group prepared enough food to fill 2,166 backpacks, with a total of 6,016 meals for hungry children. Continue reading “PLC Visit Food Bank 2018”

As part of their visit to Seminole State College this week, a group of Danish students stayed with area host families over the weekend. SSC Associate Professor of STEM Dr. Linda Goeller and husband Mark Goeller welcomed two of the students into their home and took them to experience a variety of local activities, including a car show at the annual Sorghum Day Festival in Wewoka.

As part of Seminole State College’s cultural and educational exchange program with College360° in Silkeborg, Denmark, SSC welcomed a delegation of 20 Danish students and instructors to campus this week. On Oct. 24, the visitors stopped by the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur to gain a greater understanding of Native American History.

Oklahoma State Representative Jason Dunnington (D-Oklahoma City) and State Senator Adam Pugh (R-Edmond) visited the Seminole State College campus on Wednesday. The legislators recently launched a non-profit organization called, “From Now On.” The two state officials visited several Learning Strategies classes where they spoke to students about civic duty and stressed the importance of voting.

SSC Women’s Soccer Team Ranked Number One Heading into Regional Tournament

The Seminole State College women’s soccer team will be the number one seed heading into the NJCAA Region II Tournament at Red Robertson Field in Miami, Oklahoma, this Saturday, Oct. 27. The Trojans are one of four teams to qualify for the tournament. In the first round of play, the Trojans will face off against Redlands Community College.
