Seminole State College’s Public Relations team earned the Best of Show award at the 2025 Oklahoma College Public Relations Association (OCPRA) Annual Conference, held July 13-15 at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Catoosa. The team won the top prize for their short video “Undercover President,” a spoof of the television series “Undercover Boss,” in which SSC President Lana Reynolds disguises herself as a student to encourage her peers to complete the FAFSA.
This marks the second time in three years that the SSC Public Relations team has won Best of Show. The group previously received the top honor in 2023 for their “Together We Grow” advertising campaign.
The annual competition received over 600 entries across 56 categories from higher education institutions across the state. Entries from Oklahoma’s four-year, two-year, private and public colleges and universities all compete in open categories.
The SSC Public Relations team brought home three Grand Awards—first-place honors—for “Undercover President” in the categories of Shoestring Budget, High Engagement Social Media Post and Short-Form Video.
The team also received Excellence Awards—second-place finishes—for their Esports Logo in the Athletics, Student Life or Mascot Logo category, the “Change Your Career, Change Your Life” campaign in Recruitment or Enrollment Marketing and the 2023-2024 Annual Report in the Annual Report category.
Achievement Awards—third-place finishes—were earned for the Esports Stickers in the Wearable or Promotional Item Design category and the 30th Annual Spring Recognition Banquet campaign in the Fundraising or Alumni Engagement category.
The team also received an Honorable Mention for the 30th Annual Spring Recognition Banquet Program in the Event Program or Specialty Print category.
Josh Hutton, Director of Communications, wrote copy and provided graphic design for the winning entries. Brooks Nickell, Web and Multimedia Coordinator, provided videography, photography and editing. Director of Community Relations Kim Pringle collaborated on the Spring Banquet fundraising event.
“This was the College’s strongest showing in the history of the OCPRA awards,” SSC President Lana Reynolds said. “We are incredibly proud of our Public Relations team. They are competing against public relations departments at colleges and universities with larger teams and bigger budgets than SSC. The recognition in these diverse categories highlights their broad skill set and outstanding creative work.”
