Benson Named Director of SSC Nursing Program

Seminole State College has named Ann Benson as the new director of the College’s Nursing Program. Benson began her duties Jan. 5.

Benson has worked at SSC for four years. During her time at the College, she has taught Psychosocial Nursing and the Nursing Leadership capstone course. She has also taught Maternal, Newborn and Pediatrics and served one semester as a Medical Surgical I clinical instructor.

SSC Board of Regents Extend President’s Contract

The Seminole State College Board of Regents convened Thursday, Jan. 15, for its monthly meeting in the Enoch Kelly Haney Center Board Room. Prior to the meeting, regents toured SSC’s new esports lab in the David L. Boren Library and learned about the program.

During the meeting, SSC President Lana Reynolds shared personnel and campus activity updates and introduced “SSC 2025: At a Glance,” a publication that offers a quick overview of the last year, campus accomplishments and the College’s top news stories. The publication highlights SSC receiving a $17 million gift from MacKenzie Scott’s foundation, the launch of the esports program, the establishment of a paralegal program set to launch in fall 2026, SSC securing two federal TRIO Student Support Services grants to enhance academic support and the partnership between The Clinic and SSC to provide comprehensive health care access for students. SSC to Host First Pitch Banquet

Seminole State College will celebrate the start of the 2026 Trojan Baseball season with its annual Trojan First Pitch Banquet on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 6:30 p.m. in the Enoch Kelly Haney Center.

This year’s guest speaker will be Chris Schroder, a former Trojan baseball player and SSC Hall of Fame member. Schroder serves as executive director of the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma (ACCO). In his role, he oversees the day-to-day operations of ACCO, including providing counties with property and liability coverage and workers’ compensation coverage, legislative advocacy, training programs for county commissioners and staff, and planning and hosting three conferences annually. Schroder has worked for the association since 2011 and was named executive director in 2021.

SSC to Offer Microsoft for Work Professionals Course

Seminole State College is enrolling students in Microsoft for Work Professionals, a short-term, college-credit micro-credential course designed to help participants develop practical Microsoft Office and workplace technology skills.

The class begins Jan. 14 and meets once a week for eight weeks from 1 to 2:40 p.m. Students may enroll through Jan. 16.

The course will be taught by Dan Hill, a business and education instructor who has worked at Seminole State College for nine years. He also serves as the college’s women’s soccer coach. Hill has led the women’s soccer program to the national tournament for seven consecutive years and has been named NJCAA Region II Coach of the Year for women’s soccer every year from 2018 to 2025.
