Students Complete President’s Leadership Class Program at SSC

Twelve Seminole State College sophomores in the Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class received awards recognizing their completion of two years in the program on May 1. Members enjoyed a luncheon with SSC President Lana Reynolds and Director of Community Relations and PLC sponsor Kim Pringle to celebrate the occasion. SSC President’s Leadership Class Joins in Community Clean Up

The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class joined organizations across Seminole to lend a hand with the Community Clean Up on April 19 in observance of Earth Day. Prior to their volunteer work, Assistant Professor of Life Sciences Dr. Noble Jobe spoke to students about sustainability.

SSC President’s Leadership Class Tours Port of Catoosa

Members of the Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class toured the Port of Catoosa, northeast of Tulsa on March 28. The shipping complex and 2,500-acre industrial park has an estimated $300 million economic impact on the state. The complex hosts over 71 companies and employs more than 2,600 Oklahomans. Millions of tons of bulk freight are moved by barge each year through the Port of Catoosa, which is one of the largest, most inland river-ports in the United States.

SSC President’s Leadership Class Tours Okla. Bureau of Narcotics

The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class toured the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in Oklahoma City on March 9. Mark Woodward (left), OBN Public Information and Education Officer, and Agent Anthony Moore (right) spoke with the students about a wide array of activities the OBN tackles, including the monitoring of marijuana grow operations in the state, safe disposal of prescription and illegal substances, as well as various training for officers within OBN.

The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class toured the Oklahoma State Capitol on Sept. 29. During the group’s visit, they had the opportunity to meet Rep. Kevin Wallace (R-District 32), Oklahoma Administrative Director of the Courts and former Lieutenant Gov. Jari Askins and Sen. Zack Taylor (R-District 28).

Streater Makes Large Donation to Leadership Program at SSC

Seminole State College President Lana Reynolds (left) visits with Seminole businessman and real estate developer Brandon Streater (right) about the President’s Leadership Class program at the College. Streater, a former member of the PLC program, recently gave a gift of $10,000 to support the student leadership program.

Streater said, “Being in PLC opened my eyes to possibilities of what I could do with my life and helped me set career goals. I travelled the state and I met people who influenced my future. It feels great to be able to give back to the college that meant so much to me, and to help other students benefit from PLC.”
