SSC Physical Therapist Assistant Program to Host Meet and Greet

Seminole State College will host a meet and greet event for students interested in enrolling in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program on Feb. 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center campus in Shawnee.

At the meet and greet, prospective students will have the opportunity to meet faculty and graduates, explore the field of physical therapy, learn about job opportunities, received in-depth information on the program’s degree plan and learn about how to pay for the program.

“This will be an engaging experience for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a physical therapist assistant,” SSC Director of PTA Shakira Stafford said. “Whether you’re considering a career change or just starting your educational journey, this meet and greet will help you make an informed decision.”

For the last two years, graduates of the program have achieved a licensure pass rate of 100 percent and a job placement rate of 100 percent. The average salary for a physical therapist assistant in Oklahoma is $55,461, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The PTA program is sequenced so that students take their prerequisite coursework first and are then admitted into the technical portion of the program. The technical portion consists of physical therapy coursework and on-site clinical education that can be completed in 11 months. Graduates of the program receive an Associate Degree of Applied Science and are eligible to take the licensure examination to become a physical therapist assistant. The program is housed at Shawnee’s Gordon Cooper Technology Center. For more information about the program, visit sscok.edu.
