SSC Showcases Local Artists at Campus Event

Seminole State College welcomed faculty, staff, students and the local community to immerse themselves in the world of art at the “SSC, the Arts and Me” event on April 17. Taking place at the Cooks Commons and the Boren Library, the event showcased the creativity of SSC students and local artists.

Attendees had the opportunity to view and purchase a diverse selection of artwork, ranging from paintings to sculptures.

In a special tribute to renowned artist Kelly Haney, his daughter Damaris Haney and her children, Caitlin and Matt Brown, spoke with visitors about Haney’s impactful work, which was prominently displayed in the library.

In addition to the visual feast awaiting attendees, culinary delights were available from Special Kneads, a food truck operated by South Central Industries in Shawnee. Great Western Dining also served grilled burgers and brats.

SSC graduate Robert Hanson performed acoustic guitar throughout the event.

The event was sponsored by the SSC Art Club, Student Support Services and STEM Student Support Services.

The SSC SSS project is 100% federally funded in the amount of $294,725 annually. The SSC STEM SSS project is 100% federally funded in the amount of $261,888 annually.
