Trojans Punch Ticket to JUCO World Series

Seminole State College baseball is headed to nationals after two wins Thursday afternoon in the NJCAA South Central District Tournament.  The Trojans defeated St. Charles Community College of Missouri in back-to-back games (11-5 and 19-5) to secure a berth in the JUCO World Series.  The tournament was held at the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex in Seminole.  The World Series will be held from May 23-29, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Long-time SSC food service director Bonnie Ritchie and cafeteria worker Polly Wells had the opportunity to watch the Trojans during the South-Central District Tournament Thursday.  Both Ritchie (pictured seated at left) and Wells (seated at right) were Trojans who were in the stands for many years cheering on their team.  Trojan Assistant Coach James Martin (standing left) and Head Coach Mack Chambers (right) both of whom were former players when the ladies worked in SSC food service, took time to visit with the special guests between games.

Legendary Trojan Baseball Coach Lloyd Simmons visits with former employee Judy James at Thursday’s baseball games.  James served as secretary to three college presidents during her tenure at SSC.
